This role will perform all aspects of drug distribution to support the effective daily operation of departmental services and programs leading to safe and effective patient care. Core duties include, but are not limited to, preparation and final product checking of sterile and non-sterile products, repackaging, and dispensing patient orders. You will have the opportunity to provide guidance, assist with the training and orientation of staff and students, and supervise Pharmacy Assistants. Pharmacy Technicians also provide clinical support through problem solving and discrepancy resolution to support direct patient care. Your proactive approach, strong relationships, and collaboration with all members of the healthcare team are paramount to the continued success of our team and culture.
As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.
Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Current, provisional, or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.
Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stand for the duration of your shift, push/pull, bend/twist and lift up to 30 lbs. Must be fluent in the English language (written and verbal), demonstrated communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills. Must demonstrate an effective service attitude and self-motivation. Must be able to work both independently and co-operatively in a team environment. Must be able to adapt to new technologies and change workflow patterns. An excellent attendance record, reliability, and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment references. Demonstrated computer or word processing skills. Committed to continual personal quality improvement and lifelong learning.
Prior hospital experience. Prior experience in retail pharmacy setting. Membership with a pharmacy professional organization is preferred.
