Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a dedicated professional to join our pharmacy team at Rockyview General Hospital. In this role, you’ll work to your full scope of practice, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care through all aspects of drug distribution. You’ll be involved in medication distribution, including sterile and non-sterile compounding, final checks, and inventory management. Key responsibilities include selecting and labeling medications, operating repackaging equipment, compounding, and performing final product checks. You will dispense patient prescriptions, resolve discrepancies, and support clinical care. Additionally, you’ll mentor pharmacy assistants, new staff, and students, while collaborating with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Professionalism, reliability, critical thinking, and adaptability are essential, along with a commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and teamwork. Candidates must follow instructions, work independently and collaboratively, and adapt to evolving workflows and technologies. Physical demands of the role include regular lifting of up to 30 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs., as well as frequent pushing and pulling, and standing or sitting for extended periods.

As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Current, provisional, or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.

Minimum 1 year hospital pharmacy experience within the past 2 years. Sterile compounding experience within the past 2 years. Non-sterile compounding experience within the past 2 years.

Experience with Willow Pharmacy (Connect Care). Sterile compounding certified within the last year. Non-sterile compounding certified within the last year. Membership with Pharmacy Technician association i.e. PTSA, CAPT, CSHP.
