Description
The Systems Content & Integration (SCI) team is dedicated to supporting content accuracy, safety, standardization and system integration for compounding and repackaging worksheets and oncology treatment plans. SCI is responsible for worksheet and formulation development and maintenance (including mapping) for repackaging, non-sterile and sterile compounded products. As well, SCI supports the development and maintenance of adult and pediatric treatment plans used within Beacon/Cancer Care. Members of the SCI team maintain a monthly active practice. Pharmacy technicians perform all aspects of drug distribution to provide for the effective daily operation of departmental services and programs leading to safe and effective patient care. As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.
Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Current, provisional, or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.
Registered or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician. Minimum of 5 years experience in a hospital (or similar institution) pharmacy providing compounding and repackaging services, including the provision of chemotherapy medications. Familiarity with current compounding and repackaging practices within AHS Pharmacy Services. Understanding of stability and sterility guidelines, compounding and repackaging standards, and experience supporting the creation of compounding formulations and/or worksheets. Strong computer skills including training and/or experience with: Epic, Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook and SharePoint). Adaptability and ambiguity tolerance. Ability to navigate evolving environments and changing information. Problem solving skills. Capable of making sound decisions using available data and professional judgment. Proven ability to collaborate with diverse teams. Strong verbal and written communication skills tailored to varied audiences. Ability to prioritize workload and multiple projects on an ongoing basis to meet the needs of a dynamic work environment.
Minimum 1 yr recent experience on the SCI team. Familiarity with chemotherapy compounding & repackaging practices, embedded worksheets. Project management training or equivalent experience (in a project lead role). Experience in zonal and/or provincial initiatives. Completion of change management education and Introduction to LEADs in a Caring Environment. Membership and recent volunteer experience with a pharmacy professional organization.
