Description
The Pharmacy Technician II is recognized as an expert technical practitioner who is accountable for guiding the development, implementation, evaluation and ongoing management of identified projects and programs to standardize and advance pharmacy technician practice and assistant training materials. The Pharmacy Technician II will identify innovative solutions and provide advice and direction for solving problems related to pharmacy technical practice and pharmacy operational processes.
Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Current, provisional, or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician. A minimum of 5 years' experience in hospital pharmacy practice.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a pharmacy technician in hospital pharmacy, ideally in a large, complex, and diverse organization. A minimum of 2 years’ informal pharmacy leadership experience (e.g. quality assurance lead, aseptic lead, project technician, safety technician, or technician educator). Experience participation in AHS pharmacy committee, working group, or task forces. Demonstrated leadership skills, including understanding of adult learning principles, and the ability to coach, mentor, inspire confidence, and support professional growth in others. Strong knowledge of pharmacy best practices across Alberta and Canada, with the ability to translate and operationalize these practices. Ability to prioritize workload and multiple projects on an ongoing basis to meet the needs of a dynamic work environment. Project management skills to plan, develop and implement new programs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., word, excel, SharePoint, Teams) and other pharmacy information systems (e.g., Epic). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Previous experience in research and/or scholarly activity is considered an asset.
Comprehensive experience in medication distribution, including non-hazardous & hazardous compounding, & repackaging systems & equipment. Strong working knowledge & understanding of National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) & other Pharmacy Standards. Completion of change management or project management education. Completion of Introduction to LEADs in a Caring Environment.
