Pharmacy Assistant

As a Pharmacy Assistant with the Royal Alexandra Hospital Pharmacy, you will be involved in drug distribution leading to safe and effective patient care. Duties may include, but are not limited to, medication preparation and delivery, repackaging and ward stock. You will also be building interactive relationships with all members of the healthcare team including communicating with nursing staff to clarify requests, triaging drug information questions and distribution issues.

As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will be responsible for the packaging, distributing, shipping medications and the management and replenishment of medication inventory levels under the general supervision of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Must take and pass a pharmacy assistant skills test. Must be able to deliver to all areas of the hospital including the emergency department. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods at a time. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and push carts up to 50 pounds.

Pharmacy Assistant Program enrollment/diploma is preferred. Hospital inpatient pharmacy experience is preferred. Experience with Epic (Connect Care) computer system is preferred.
