AHS is seeking a dedicated Pharmacist I to support the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital (GRH). GRH located in Edmonton, Alberta, is the largest comprehensive tertiary rehabilitation hospital in Canada, serving patients of all ages who require complex rehabilitation to enable them to participate in life to the fullest. As a key member of a close-knit interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will manage medication therapy to ensure safe, effective, and appropriate use. You’ll assess patients for drug-related concerns, optimize treatment outcomes, and contribute to comprehensive medication management. In this hospital-based role, your duties include assessing and verifying medication orders, checking prepared medications (oral, parenteral, chemotherapeutic, topical), and supporting pass medication processes. This position offers opportunities for professional growth, drug stewardship, research and quality improvement, precepting students, mentoring staff, while practicing to full scope in a collaborative team environment. Strong verbal and written communication, proficiency with medication order systems, critical thinking, problem-solving, time management, and accountability are essential. Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is necessary. Personal and professional accountability is expected.

As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).

As Required.

Hospital or Rehabilitation experience. Completion of hospital residency. Additional Prescribing Authorization. Experience verifying orders in Epic. Experience with dispensing cabinets/unit dose. Experience checking blister packages and unit dose. Membership in professional hospital pharmacy organization. Attendance at a pharmacy conference in the last 2 years.
