Description
Peter Lougheed Centre is seeking a highly motivated and skilled pharmacist to join our dynamic team and collaborative team! As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will be responsible for direct patient care services both on clinical coverage and as part of the dispensary team (order verification), education/research activities, and providing drug information to pharmacy, nursing, medicine and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Pharmacists responsible for clinical coverage actively participate in patient care rounds, collaborate with members of the health care team and develop professional relationships with patients and families to formulate, optimize and implement a medication treatment plan. Other roles include precepting and teaching of pharmacy residents, staff, and students. To succeed in this role, the pharmacist must demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication skills, a strong work ethic, and excellent interpersonal skills. Proficiency in time management, organization, and problem-solving is essential to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative healthcare environment.
As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
Advanced Prescribing Authority (APA) is required (for new practitioners; must obtain within 6 months of commencing this position). A minimum of 6 months direct patient care experience in a hospital setting providing comprehensive medication management services in a collaborative care model. Experience with computerized medication order entry and word processing. To ensure your skills and qualifications are considered please attach a resume and cover letter with your application.
Completion of a Canadian accredited pharmacy residency program or advanced clinical pharmacy degree (e.g. PharmD). Project, research experience, or committee work. Recent experience with training & precepting. Active membership of a professional pharmacy organization (e.g. CSHP). Excellent communication & interpersonal skills. Demonstrates critical thinking to solve problems & use evidence-based medicine in patient care. Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, & self-motivation.
