Nurse Practitioner

Join Canada's leading academic transplant center and deliver advanced patient care for lung transplant candidates and recipients. As a Nurse Practitioner (NP) embedded in Transplant Services, you'll practice at full scope within a high acuity, interprofessional team, co-managing complex transplant patients, standardizing pathways across programs, and advancing quality outcomes for transplant patients. Working primarily on inpatient units (with consultative support to ICU/ED as needed), the NP provides comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment and coordination of care for pre- and post-lung transplant patients, using your advanced assessment skills and clinical knowledge. The role partners closely with lung transplant physicians, transplant care nurse coordinators, thoracic surgery, pharmacy, infectious diseases, allied health and program leadership to ensure safe, efficient care transitions from admission through discharge and handover to outpatient follow-up. As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Proven clinical leadership abilities with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated expertise in accelerating effective change.

Demonstrated experience in transplant care, critical care, cardiac sciences or pulmonary medicine would be beneficial. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is an asset.
