Alberta Health Services and the Edmonton Zone Stroke Program have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) wishing to work with a collaborative and multidisciplinary team that support the rapidly evolving Stroke Services at the University of Alberta Hospital. The Stroke NP position in integral to the interdisciplinary team and stroke service that provides care to patients who have recently experienced a stroke. The Stroke NP consults and collaborates with stroke specialists, departments and health care teams to provide expert clinical care in managing the health needs of individuals who have experienced a stroke. The primary responsibility of the stroke NP is to provide comprehensive case management (including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, management, referral and evaluation) of patients on the acute stroke service. Case management and care will include but is not limited to the Edmonton Stroke Ambulance, the Emergency Department, in patient stroke (ward, high-intensity, critical care) and ambulatory stroke clinics. This position reports to the Stroke Program Manager.

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Current ACLS certification.
