Work independently with your own panel of patients of all ages, within an excellent collaborative team of NPs, physicians, nurses, pharmacist, mental health/social work team, dietitians, PT and OT! The East Calgary Family Care Clinic (ECFCC) is known providing comprehensive primary care for patients with complex needs. This could be any combination of chronic illnesses, mental health difficulties and addiction along with social or economic factors that negatively impact health. The nurse practitioner role the ECFCC works independently with their own panel of patients, acting as the patients most responsible provider. The Nurse Practitioners at ECFCC work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team - including MDs, nursing, social work, mental health, pharmacy, physio and OT - to provide patient and family centered care in a nonjudgmental, trauma informed approach, supporting health enhancing behaviours. This role is perfect for someone looking to work to their full scope of practice in a team-based environment. The ECFCC is open 7 days per week with extended hours - this role does include some evenings, and occasional weekends & stat holidays. Please note that a new Collective Agreement has recently been ratified between the AUNP and AHS. The FTE is negotiable between a 0.4 and 0.7 FTE.

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree. Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Applies principles of primary health care in providing health services. Practices autonomously and collaboratively. Promotes and supports health enhancing behaviors. Strong organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication and team-work skills. Demonstrated ability to use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and computer literacy.

Experience in working with chronic pain, and substance use disorders including opioid agonist treatment an asset. Familiarity with approaches supporting behavior change in clients, such as HealthChange® Methodology, is preferred. Education and demonstrated experience providing trauma informed care. Experience providing care to all ages, including pediatrics.
