Lac La Biche Addiction and Mental Health Services is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic individual to work as a Mental Health Therapist as part of the Travel Team. If you are passionate about providing excellent addiction & mental health treatment services to children and adults, then this is the ideal career opportunity for you. As a Mental Health Therapist (generalist), you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment approaches for children and adults experiencing mental health issues. Working both independently and as a team, you will provide evidence-informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment. This position supports travel clinics with a number of communities within Area 7. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.
Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Ability to travel during inclement weather.
Individuals with an Indigenous background are encouraged to apply. Knowledge and ability to speak Indigenous languages is considered an asset. Master's degree with two to three years mental health experience is preferred.
