Description
This position requires a highly motivated individual that is keenly interested in working with people who have chronic and persistent mental health illness. This position works out of the Three Hills Mental Health and Addiction Clinic at the Three Hills Provincial Building. Having strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are large contributors to success in this position. The successful applicant would work with Assertive Outreach Clinicians, Addiction Counselors, and Mental Health Therapists to support addiction and mental health clients. You will work as part of a team to support the development, implementation, and delivery of the client relevant treatment plan as guided by the clinician/therapists/counselors. You will work with clients in the community, within their homes and transport clients as needed. This position also plans and assists in creative group activities and socialization with clients. Having an understanding of mental health and addiction issues, being self-motivated and able to work independently, at times are keys to further success in this position. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Mental Health Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team to provide a welcoming and safe care environment. You will assist in the provision of direct patient/client care as delegated in a person-centered, recovery oriented and safe manner. In this position, you will assist and / or promote independence to patients/clients in completing activities of daily living as well as assisting other health professionals with providing treatments and observing and reporting relevant patient/client information to professional staff. You will assist new patients/clients and families with orientation, and assist in the general support of the work area.
Completion of Grade 12. A combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer will also be considered.
Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) required. Training in Mental Health First Aide, Suicide Prevention, Non-Violence Crisis Intervention, life skills, food preparation, as well as related post-secondary education are a definite asset. Valid Non-Graduated driver's license and reliable transportation.
