Description
Reporting to the Quality Assurance and Education manager for the provincial Diagnostic Imaging Quality, Safety and Education portfolio, this position is responsible for providing leadership and guidance for computed tomography (CT) imaging to advance and standardize at a provincial level. This is a provincial position with no direct supervision of a staff team, and the successful applicant may be located anywhere in the province. As a CT Practice Lead, this position requires application of in-depth knowledge and expertise to act as a resource for diagnostic imaging management, staff radiologists and students to identify innovative solutions and provide advice and direction for solving problems related to CT imaging and post-processing. This position is responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge with AHS CT equipment to provide staff training and education, establish best practice and provincial standards, and assist with developing protocols for departments provincially. This position is also responsible for planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of educational activities and improvement opportunities identified by the DI Quality Assurance program in relation to CT imaging and post-processing. This position is a liaison and a clinical lead for technologists, radiologists, administration and healthcare providers for CT imaging.
As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) III, you will be responsible for the operational supervision of a staff team and work processes of a radiology department or program/function. You will act as the lead Clinical Preceptor for MRT students and primary liaison to the area Radiologist. Your work can include establishing and maintaining adequate levels of supplies and materials for the department and administering quality control assurance programs.
Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Member in good standing and current registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Minimum of five years’ experience as a CT technologist in a large Diagnostic Imaging acute care site. Previous 3D and/or multi-planar reformatting experience and proficient with dedicated post-processing software. Prior experience facilitating, instructing, developing learning, precepting and/or teaching. Practical experience with Diagnostic Imaging quality initiatives. Work effectively both independently and within a team environment. Experience collaborating and working effectively with technical, medical and administrative personnel, and fostering relationships and partnerships with internal/external stakeholders. Coaching/mentoring skills to foster an environment of collaboration and effective teamwork. Strong, adaptive communication skills utilizing a variety of modalities (verbal, written, active listening). Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite [MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint]). Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize workload, and balance competing demands. Evidence of thoroughness, concern for accuracy, and attention to detail in performing tasks. Compassionate and caring attitude, and focused patient and family-centered care.
Computed Tomography Imaging Certificate (CTIC) with CAMRT preferred. Process improvement courses and/or certification. Training/courses in leadership, conflict resolution, change management and communication. Equivalences of education and experience will be considered.
