Description
Reporting to the Director of Medical Affairs, Rural and working closely with Medical Leadership, this position directs day to day operation of Central Corridor Medical Affairs. This is a fast-paced environment requiring excellent organizational and personal interaction skills.
This position is responsible for all zonal Medical Affairs operations. This includes physician workforce planning, recruitment, finance, special projects, clinical physician extension staff and admin support. The Manager serves as the Medical Affairs liaison for the ZMD and the Zone Medical Leadership team. Working with Medical Leadership is a significant portion of these positions. This work is required to ensure the sustainability of medical services/programming in the Zone. The Manager provides overall direction for department initiatives and works closely with the different functional teams within the department to ensure harmonization of activities within and among teams in this portfolio and others in Zone Medical Affairs, Medical Leadership, AHS operations, and external stakeholders/organizations. The Manager has responsibility for the design, implementation and evaluation of strategic initiatives intended to support compliance with AHS Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, labour relations, immigration and licensing standards, etc. This includes ensuring adequate human, financial and material resources to accomplish desired outcomes. The Manager consults with relevant stakeholders (medical leaders, physicians, operational leads, medical staff offices, the Provincial government, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, the Alberta Medical Association, academic and clinical departments, Covenant Health, Lamont Health, etc.) to ensure that processes are working well in various contexts, consistent with provincial standards and adjusted as necessary to achieve optimal results. These roles require strong and demonstrated leadership skills and experience working in a complex, fast-moving environment with both internal and external stakeholders.
Previous Management experience.
As Required.
Direct Medical Affairs experience is preferred. Post secondary education in a Management related field is preferred however equivalencies will be considered.
