Emergency Health Services - Alberta (EHS) is seeking a Manager, Emergency Health Services to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will lead EHS operations, guide workforce development, and drive innovative strategies to enhance service delivery. As an operations leader, you will champion culture change, promote collaboration, and strengthen relationships with internal and external partners to align EHS operations with organizational strategy. Managers directly influence the experience of paramedics, the effectiveness of frontline operations, and the quality of patient care delivered across the province.

Reporting to the Director of EHS Operations, the Manager leads a multi-disciplinary team of Supervisors who oversee frontline healthcare staff. In this pivotal role, you participate in an after-hours on-call rotation and provide strategic oversight to align team performance with the EHS vision. You will inspire, coach, and mentor staff while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and growth. Responsibilities include managing HR processes-such as recruitment, performance management, and return-to-work programs-while supporting professional development and ensuring policy adherence. You will coordinate daily operations, develop operational strategies, and align resources with organizational goals. Using data-driven decision-making, you will monitor performance to ensure safety and excellence in service delivery. Financial duties include managing budgets, overseeing procurement, and allocating resources to maintain efficiency. You will champion a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while addressing logistical challenges related to equipment and infrastructure. Additionally, you will lead change initiatives to integrate EHS services and drive workforce transformation. By managing programs aligned with organizational goals, you will develop innovative solutions for complex operational challenges. Building collaborative relationships is essential; you will engage with affiliates, contract partners, unions, and first responders. Your transparent communication will align operations with community needs, strengthening the partnerships that ensure the success of EHS services.

We are looking for candidates who are graduates of an Alberta College of Paramedics-approved program with current registration or eligibility with ACP. A valid Alberta Class 4 Operator’s License with no more than 6 demerits is required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in a complex, diverse organization, preferably in emergency health services, and proven expertise in managing human, physical, and fiscal resources. You will bring a demonstrated ability to inspire and lead teams with a focus on collaboration and accountability, strong strategic planning and decision-making skills, and comprehensive knowledge of EHS protocols, safety compliance, and resource management. Effective communication skills, including conflict resolution and active listening abilities, are essential. Additionally, you should be skilled in quality improvement and change management, with experience implementing innovative solutions in a manner that promotes the right conditions for success.

Must demonstrate practical leadership skills, including the ability to coach and support staff, build effective teams, and promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. Brings strong verbal and written communication skills that support clear direction, effective collaboration, and respectful conflict resolution. Requires the ability to assess complex operational situations, make sound decisions, and prioritize resources in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment. Demonstrates competency in leading teams through change and adapting leadership approaches to new challenges, pressures, or service needs. Must be able to establish and maintain productive working relationships across departments and within a unionized environment, applying fairness, discretion, and sound judgment to sensitive or escalated issues. Exhibits strong organizational skills, reliability, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities while upholding safety, quality, and service standards.

Bachelor or Graduate Degree in healthcare administration, business, or leadership. Demonstrated self - led professional development in leadership or EHS operations. Proven ability to manage change and implement innovative solutions. Experience in unionized environments and fostering partnerships. Certification in change management and/or formal experience in quality improvement work (committee participation or education).
