Description
Rockyview General Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Patient Care Manager (PCM) within Women’s Health to oversee the operational management and strategic planning of multiple areas including Antepartum, Obstetrical Triage, Labor and Delivery, Obstetrical OR and PACU, and Maternal/Newborn. This leadership role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of high quality, evidence-based care across Women’s Health services. This includes supporting excellence in patient outcomes, staff engagement and wellness, and system integration. As part of the site’s leadership team, the PCM will play a key role in advancing strategic priorities and fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. This includes working closely with other strategic partners within and outside of the portfolio.
The Patient Care Manager, Women’s Health is responsible for the strategic planning, operational leadership, and overall management of designated Women’s Health patient care service areas. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role is accountable for human, financial, and physical resources required to safely and effectively meet patient care needs while ensuring alignment with Alberta Health Services’ vision, mission, and strategic priorities. Key responsibilities include oversight of the unit managers that are responsible for daily operations, quality and safety performance, patient flow, staff recruitment, development, and performance management. The PCM works collaboratively with physician leads, other clinical leaders, internal and external stakeholders to implement best practices, support change initiatives, and achieve service goals. This includes the strategic planning, execution and evaluation of key performance indicators related to the program. The PCM represents the site and service area on local, corridor, and provincial committees, projects, and initiatives related to Women’s Health.
A baccalaureate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in healthcare, nursing, or a related field. Current registration and membership in good standing with an applicable professional college or association, is required. Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated effectiveness in a formal leadership or management role within acute care is required, preferably in a critical care setting. Proven ability to lead, develop, and mentor interdisciplinary teams in a complex hospital setting. Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to manage change, resolve complex issues, and support continuous quality improvement. Demonstrated analytical, planning, decision making, and financial management skills. Commitment to patient and family centered care, safety, and quality outcomes. Proven ability to manage a complex department with multiple goals and competing interests. Requires understanding of the inter-dependencies within the corridor and broader health care system.
Working knowledge of the healthcare system and operational requirements of patient care services. Demonstrated ability to manage human, financial, and physical resources within a unionized environment. Proven ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships with physicians, staff, and internal and external partners. Demonstrated record of professional and personal development. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as a member of a site and corridor leadership team. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
Master’s degree in business, Health Administration, Leadership or equivalent. Experience leading quality improvement, patient safety, or change initiatives within Women’s Health services. Experience working collaboratively with physician leaders and participating in hospital, corridor, or provincial initiatives. Formal leadership training and/or completion of relevant management or change leadership courses.
