St. Therese - St. Paul Healthcare Centre is seeking an experienced Nurse to join its leadership team as Acute Care and Obstetrics Unit Manager. This key role advances clinical excellence by applying evidence based practice and critical thinking to anticipate challenges and implement effective, patient centred solutions. The Unit Manager mentors and inspires staff, serves as a clinical resource, and leads change management and team development in a fast paced care environment. Working closely with site leadership, the role coordinates staffing and daily operations while fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Site Manager, the Acute Care Unit Manager is responsible and accountable for direction, team leadership and organization over the activities of the Acute Care department, as well as supporting the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. The position is responsible and accountable for making unit-level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of patient and family centered care. As the Manager, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating change management, promoting team development, teamwork and coordinating staffing and clinical work. You will be responsible for maintaining an effective framework for the operations of patient care services to facilitate the delivery of quality assurance and utilization of information. We are looking for someone who can develop creative approaches to patient care and who demonstrates sound critical thinking and ethical decision making.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit within the applicable governing body. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Three to five years of medical experience, combined with strong communication and organizational skills, and a demonstrated commitment to patient and family centred care while delivering high quality services. Proven leadership abilities, including effective decision making, change management, coaching, and teaching, with the capacity to motivate, inspire, and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage human, financial, and physical resources within a complex operating environment. Experienced in fostering collaborative partnerships and achieving organizational objectives, ideally within a unionized setting. Recognized for initiative, adaptability, and creativity, with a strong focus on promoting quality improvement and a culture of safety for both staff and patients.

Minimum one year experience in a leadership capacity (i.e. Charge Nurse or Team Lead). Previous management experience in a rural setting with obstetrics preferred. Rural management experience with obstetrics and formal leadership or change management training are preferred. Geriatric experience is an asset Connect Care training is preferred. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), recent experience with intrapartum fetal heart monitoring.
