Description
As a Maintenance Worker III, you may perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair work on patient and hospital equipment and complex mechanical systems to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. You may utilize your maintenance skills and experience in the performance of preventative and demand maintenance within the exterior and interior of the building. Your duties may include troubleshooting and repairing electronic components on patient and hospital equipment; monitoring, troubleshooting and performing repairs on boilers, HVAC, medical air and vacuum systems and pure water systems. In addition, you may be required to coordinate and assign work to other Maintenance Worker staff in order to meet operational requirements.
Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or 1 year specialized/technical training in a related field OR 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines or AHS standards where boiler support is necessary. Possession of a valid driver's licence.
Successful applicant must have a Grade 12 High School diploma supplemented by one-year technical training from a recognized educational institution in a related field or a 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate. Must have 3-5 years previous experience with mechanical, architectural, or structural building systems. Must be familiar with a variety of tools and equipment used in the maintenance program including groundskeeping and snow removal equipment. Must be able to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing. Must be familiar with established safety rules, regulations and procedures and have the ability to work with minimum supervision. Must have the ability to perform physical activity including but not limited to: lifting (up to 20kg), pushing/pulling, (up to 150 kg) with regular frequency and be able to walk, crouch, stand, kneel or reach above shoulders for extended periods of time. Candidate must also be available for an on-call and weekend rotation one week/weekend per month. Successful incumbent must live within 30 minutes of facility for emergency situations.
