Reporting to the Manager of Facilities Maintenance & Engineering. This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair on specialized hospital equipment for the Calgary Zone. As a Maintenance Worker III - Bed Shop Technician you will be required to perform highly skilled repair and maintenance on complex pieces of equipment (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic) such as patient beds, stretchers, cribs, exam tables, wheelchairs, and other related equipment. Utilizing manufacturer’s specifications disassembles machinery and equipment, repairs or replaces worn out parts and re-assembles, tests, adjusts, including lubrication. Provide expertise to end users for problem solving and diagnostic troubleshooting to keep this equipment operational in addition will act as a resource for other bed shops in other zones. The incumbent will also evaluate new equipment against hospital standards, perform inspections, and other related duties as required.

As a Maintenance Worker III, you may perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair work on patient and hospital equipment and complex mechanical systems to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. You may utilize your maintenance skills and experience in the performance of preventative and demand maintenance within the exterior and interior of the building. Your duties may include troubleshooting and repairing electronic components on patient and hospital equipment; monitoring, troubleshooting and performing repairs on boilers, HVAC, medical air and vacuum systems and pure water systems. In addition, you may be required to coordinate and assign work to other Maintenance Worker staff in order to meet operational requirements.

Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or 1 year specialized/technical training in a related field OR 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines or AHS standards where boiler support is necessary. Possession of a valid driver's licence.

Minimum Grade 12, along with strong mechanical and electrical competency. Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and equipment problems. Working knowledge of computer programs such as outlook, word, and excel.

Minimum 3 years’ experience successful completion of Hillrom technical training courses. Example: Hillrom Progressa bed basics technical training or other Hillrom technical training which includes mechanical, electrical and hydraulic fundamentals. Experience with repair of beds, stretchers, cribs, exam tables, wheelchairs, and other equipment.
