Description
Are you looking for an opportunity to flex your knowledge as a Facilities, Maintenance and Engineering Planner? If so, Health Shared Services, Calgary corridor has an amazing opportunity for you. This role coordinates closely with trades, departments, contractors, and supply chain to minimize downtime, support patient care continuity, and meet regulatory and accreditation standards. The Maintenance Planner is the CMMS “owner” for data integrity, asset records, PM libraries, and work order workflows. This position is ideal for a highly motivated individual seeking an opportunity in a fast paced and dynamic environment all while understanding the importance of making Patients and Family Centered Care decisions. This position works closely with the Provincial Centre of Excellence planning group, planners within the Corridor, corridor and site capital management leadership. The position collects, maintains, plans and assigns duties in accordance with organizational requirements, codes, standards, best practices, procedures and safety.
As a Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for planning and scheduling maintenance work for equipment repairs, preventative maintenance and capital work within the hospital facilities, in accordance with directives, procedures, standards and practices. You will manage and maintain the computerized maintenance system for demand and preventative maintenance. In addition, you will monitor, develop and implement the maintenance procedures for all buildings and special user equipment.
Completion of post-secondary education in a related trade or technology program.
Experience: 5-10 years of experience as a Maintenance Planner or in a closely related planning/scheduling role within facilities or industrial maintenance. 3-5 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare environment (acute care preferred). Technical: Demonstrated proficiency with recognized CMMS platforms (e.g., creation of PMs, job plans, spares, and reporting). Oracle E‑Facilities experience (or equivalent enterprise CMMS/ERP integration) is strongly preferred. Solid understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, steam, medical gas support systems, fire/life safety, emergency power) and maintenance methods (preventive, predictive, reliability‑centered maintenance). Ability to read/interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, O&M manuals, and OEM procedures. Compliance & Safety: Familiarity with hospital accreditation requirements and regulatory frameworks for facilities (e.g., life safety, environmental health, emergency power testing, pressure systems). Strong knowledge of safe work practices: LOTO, hot work, confined space, working at heights, contractor control. Safety Mindset: Embeds hazard controls and complies with safety procedures at all times.
Communication & Coordination: Excellent English verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to communicate technical plans to clinical and non‑technical audiences. Strong stakeholder management and meeting facilitation skills. Digital Skills: Proficiency with CMMS, MS Excel, Outlook, Teams, and report building (KPIs, pivot tables, schedule exports). Experience with barcoding, use of Artificial Intelligence, mobile work management, and digital forms is an asset.
