Description
Unit 32 is an acute medical unit where holistic palliative care, patient/family support and education, bereavement counseling, and Oncology related Nursing care feature predominately. A candidate who can work effectively within an inter-disciplinary team to provide family focused Nursing care is required. This environment is suitable for candidates who have current experience with palliative care and Oncology.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) is required. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, to provide quality care to patients, and to report observations. Experience in acute care within the last three years is essential. Current experience with acute oncology/palliative care preferred. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education is required. Self directed individual with a positive attitude, and demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, evidenced by performance appraisals and reference checks. Must be up to full scope of practice with IV medications, PICC care etc Must have advanced authorization through CLPNA for Administering medication via CVC, PICC, and IVAD as well as Administrating Parenteral Nutrition. Please Note: All Acute Care, Continuing Care, Mental Health and Public Health, LPN, RN and RPN applications require a cover letter and current resume outlining experience and abilities relevant to the position.
