Description
An exciting opportunity exists to grow your clinical skills and join a dynamic team on Unit 38 at the Peter Lougheed Centre (PLC). Unit 38 is a fast-paced, acute medical unit specializing in General Internal Medicine, pre/post Lung Transplant and Pulmonary Hypertension. You will work on a team that collaborates with physicians, nurse practitioners, residents, medical students, pharmacists, nurses, and other allied health care providers. To be successful in this role, you will possess an understanding of how patients are at the center of care and strive to build inclusive environments that reflect the needs and supports required for the populations that we serve (i.e. ethno-cultural, equity-seeking, racialized, faith-based, LGBTQ2S+, vulnerable, marginalized, persons with disabilities, and persons across all age groups). Reporting to the unit manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse will work to their full scope.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Ability to contribute as a team member, learn within a dynamic environment, and adapt/cope with change. Demonstrated excellent time management and organization skills. Experience in acute care medical nursing in the past year with internal medicine patients. Experience with inpatient adult med/surg Connect Care. Current N95 Fit Test. It’s your move required.
Minimum of 1 year in the last 2 years of pulmonary experience. PCA pump experience. Chest tube experience. VAC dressing experience. Central Line certification. PICC line certification. IV direct certification. Epoprostenol for treatment of Pulmonary Hypertension.
