As a Licensed Practical Nurse in our long‑term care team, you’ll take on a meaningful clinical and leadership role, supporting residents to live with dignity and comfort. You’ll use your assessment and critical‑thinking skills to deliver safe, person‑centred care while mentoring Health Care Aides through competency assessments and daily coaching. Strong wound care skills will be an asset as you will be participating in early identification, staging, and management of wounds to strengthen best practices across the team. You’ll work closely with an engaged interprofessional group to support care planning, medication management, and ongoing resident assessments. This position is based in Barrhead, a welcoming community just 1.5 hours from Edmonton, offering short commutes, a lower cost of living, and access to lakes, trails, and modern recreation facilities like the new Aquatic Centre. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Minimum of five years of progressively responsible practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse; Experience conducting competency assessments for Health Care Aides, including direct observation, skills validation, and documentation of performance; Experience in completing chart and documentation audits to ensure compliance with organizational policies, health regulations, and quality‑improvement standards.

Certified in IV initiation and venipuncture (blood draws); Experience in continuing care, supportive living, or long-term care environments. Act as a clinical resource for staff regarding wound care practices.
