Come join our team as a casual Licensed Practical Nurse in a Lodge/Supportive Living environment. We are looking for caring, enthusiastic, reliable team members to contribute positively to our working environment and provide the highest quality care to our residents. LPN's in our facility must be able to work independently, think critically and lead the team as there are times when there is only one LPN on duty. Note: Nanton is about 90km outside of Calgary. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of a health care team, collaborating on the delivery of care to meet the needs of patients/clients. The LPN assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care of patients/clients and work in consultation with RN, MD and NP colleagues and others to meet the needs of more complex patients/clients. The LPN is responsible and accountable to the public for his/her practice, according to the Standards defined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) Standards of Practice (2003).

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required. Demonstrates critical thinking skills, within scope of practice, including clinical judgment, problem solving skills and strong decision-making ability. Dementia experience is required. Charge nurse experience is required.

Previous experience is an asset. Supportive living and/or continuing care experience is an asset. Dementia Care Training an asset. Palliative experience is an asset.
