The Tertiary and Rehabilitation mental health relief team is a part of the Recovery Alberta portfolio in the Edmonton Zone, specifically at Alberta Hospital Edmonton. We provide person-centered care, with all team members working within the CoACT collaborative care model. You would be reporting to the Central Services Manager while working on Tertiary and Rehabilitation units onsite (8 Building). These units support individuals requiring stabilization and/or intensive rehabilitative support to enhance community readiness. These clients will have differing levels of intellectual disability The Licensed Practical Nurse - is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care for adults presenting with acute and chronic addictions and mental health concerns. The Licensed Practical Nurse will provide safe, effective, and stage-matched nursing care according to clinical policies, procedures, and evidence-based nursing care standards. The Licensed Practical Nurse works within a concurrent capable, recovery-oriented framework, within the context of a multidisciplinary team. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Recent experience in Addictions and Mental Health. Sound observation and strong verbal communication skills. Positive attitude and the ability to work effectively in an Acute Psychiatry setting. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to adapt quickly to changes in daily schedule and patient needs. Working knowledge of person-centered care principles is important.
Working knowledge of the CoACT model of care. Working knowledge of trauma informed care.
