Rocky Mountain House has an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Aide in Home Care! Rocky Mountain House is well known as the place "Where Adventure Begins". Located 215 km from Calgary, 215 km from Edmonton and 77 km from Red Deer, it is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in Western Canada. As a successful HCA, you will work as a team as well as working individually in a self-motivated environment that is always changing. Adhering to the provided care plan that has been established in collaboration with the client, family and members of the interdisciplinary team will support you in your every changing environment. You will perform health care duties as authorized on the client’s care plan, including but not limited to simple dressings, medication assistance, catheter care, ostomy care and exercises for range of movement and strengthening. You have an opportunity to contribute as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team; demonstrating excellent creativity and resourcefulness with the ability to think on your feet with little direction. You will need to have great time management and organization abilities in order to balance different priorities at once. Being able to provide friendly and sincere emotional support by being a good listener and interacting in a positive and optimistic manner is critical to ensuring patient centered care as a HCA. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Availability to work weekends is a requirement for this position. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation.

Experience providing medication assistance. Experience in caring for the elder population or chronically ill clients in the community setting.
