Licensed Practical Nurse

Wainwright is a vibrant and friendly rural community of around 7,000 located in east central Alberta on highway 14 and 41. It is known as a major service center for the agriculture, oil and gas industries and is home to Canadian Forces Base Wainwright. The Wainwright Health Centre contains a 20 bed acute care medical/surgical unit, 2 bed obstetrical suite, 24/7 Emergency Department, in addition to an OR, day surgery unit and cardiac wellness services.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

As required.

Minimum one (1) year Acute, OR or Emergency nursing experience is preferred. Experience with Connect Care, and general computer skills. ACLS. Other courses and training applicable to the rural acute and operating room/pre/post op setting an asset.
