Description
Wetaskiwin Home Care is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse for its Home Care team. Reporting to the Care Manager, Wetaskiwin Home Care in the role of direct care support, you will be responsible for providing quality care to clients in the community and clinic. Using your vast nursing skills, you will assist in identify the needs of the client, work with the interdisciplinary team and fulfill direct care responsibilities such as wound care, catheter care, Ostomy, IV and a range of other skills. The successful candidate will play a key role in timely and appropriate provision of direct care. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Active registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Licensed Practical Nurses (CLPNA) Graduation from a recognized nursing education program Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel Class 5 driver's licence or non GDL. In addition, the incumbent will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Actively integrates Patient and Family Centered Care principles into practice Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team
Minimum one (1) years community nursing experience, ability and knowledge of Rural Nursing Experience with Connect Care, Microsoft Office and general computer skills Demonstrates critical thinking, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills Excellent time management and prioritization skills Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required
