Licensed Practical Nurse

Reporting to the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Unit Manager or delegate - Children, Youth & Families - Addiction and Mental Health - the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a member of a multidisciplinary team providing nursing care to children and adolescents who are coping with a mental illness. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care of patients and works collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team to meet patient’s total needs. The LPN maintains competent practice and provides nursing care according to the Licensed Practical Nurses Professional Regulation. The successful incumbent will be expected to be able to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships with members of a multidisciplinary team. Actively integrates patient and family centered care principles within own nursing practice. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Within the last 5 years, a minimum of at least two years’ experience working in a children’s mental health and/or addictions care setting. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Knowledge of DSMV-TR. Excellent critical thinking, clinical judgment and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to function within an interdisciplinary team environment. Current certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention preferred.
