Description
Lethbridge Addiction and Mental Health services has an opportunity in Acute Adult Inpatient Psychiatry at Chinook Regional Hospital, for an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who is dedicated to providing leading, patient and family centered care and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of Albertans. As an LPN on the interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for the rapid assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for psychiatric patients using your thorough knowledge and experience of evidence-based Addiction and Mental Health treatment modalities. You will also use strong verbal communication skills that supports verbal messages being received and understood within the context of crisis and non-crisis situations. You have a working knowledge of mental health across populations, the Mental Health Act and DSM V. You have a demonstrated ability to function effectively in a stressful environment and effectively resolve conflict using excellent interpersonal skills. You are self-directed and exercise independent decision making, nursing judgment and critical thinking skills to efficiently organize and prioritize workload. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Minimum one (1) year within the last five (5) years’ experience working within an Addiction and Mental Health role. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI).
