Description
Exciting opportunity to work at Full Scope of Practice on Alternate Level of Care (ALC) Unit 51 at the Peter Lougheed Centre. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the provision of direct patient care on Unit 51. The LPN will participate in all duties and responsibilities required to care for ALC patients, aligning with the patient and family centered care strategy. The successful candidate will be a key member of the team utilizing the Integrated Collaborative Practice model of CoACT. They will be able to effectively provide leadership to others, work well within a multidisciplinary team setting and have the ability to work independently. The LPN on Unit 51 is expected to actively participate in quality improvement initiatives set out by the unit quality council. They will work in an organized manner as well as strive to seek out educational opportunities. Other unit specific duties include collaboration of care with the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Health Care Aide (HCA) and other members of the multidisciplinary team. This position is a great opportunity to work at full scope of practice, to develop a broad knowledge base and a solid Nursing foundation as well as provide care in a Collaborative work environment. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Demonstrated ability to work at full scope of practice. Strong communication and leadership skills essential. Demonstrated ability to work with a large multi-disciplinary team. Minimum two (2) years acute care nursing experience obtained within the past 5 years.
Minimum 3 years acute adult inpatient medicine experience preferred. Geriatric & Dementia experience preferred. Experience working in a CoACT environment preferred. Experience with Connect Care preferred. Previous Unit 51 experience preferred.
