Description
As a Licensed Practical Nurse in this busy rural acute care setting, you will have the ability to work collaboratively with clients, families, and other members of the multidisciplinary team. The Licensed Practical Nurse will demonstrate initiative and accountability and will seek out and accept direction as required. Critical thinking skills, working within your scope of practice, including clinical judgment, problem-solving skills, and strong decision-making abilities are essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required as is a commitment to integrating Patient and Family Centered Care principles into your practice. The ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workloads will be vital. A commitment to promoting a positive work environment and to professional development is valued. On-Call Duty will be an expectation in this position. This position is in the town of Claresholm, AB. 130 km south of Calgary. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Rural Acute Care and/or ER experience within the last six months.
ACLS certification (current). CTAS. Relevant additional education/certification in wound care, palliative care, NVCI, CTAS is considered an asset.
