As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the experienced peri-operative Operating Room Technician (ORT) will be responsible for providing peri-operative patient care in accordance with CLPNA practice standards. The incumbent will demonstrate competence in delivering safe, effective and efficient care in both a scrub and a circulating role as an integral part of the surgical team. The Operating Room Technician - Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible to provide safe care throughout the patient stay in the surgical suite. The Nurse promotes the professional role and evaluates their professional education and clinical practice standards. The scope of practice is a continuum ranging from basic to advanced clinical nursing activities. The ORT is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care during the peri-operative patient experience in accordance with hospital policies and standards. The incumbent will work with patients during peri-operative phase of care and must demonstrate a professional, positive attitude, excellent communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills when performing scrubbing and circulating duties in the surgical environment. It is expected that the ORT is able to contribute to quality initiatives and promotes a professional work environment at all times.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Post-Grad Perioperative Certification required. OR completion of a CLPNA approved perioperative course. Experience in Day Surgery and Endoscopy. Experience with Orthopedics, Vascular, Spine, General Surgery, ENT, Urology and Plastics.
