Description
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the health care team, collaborating on the delivery of comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals, families, and/or communities within a level of competency and through the use of critical thinking and clinical judgment. The LPN provides leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for the purpose of promoting, maintaining, or restoring health, preventing illness, injury, and disability. The LPN demonstrates a professional demeanor in accordance with their regulating body. The LPN pursues regular professional development opportunities and maintenance of professional designation. The successful applicant must be prepared and willing to support all levels of learning professionals. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Ability to prioritize care needs for walk-in population to ensure direction to appropriate provider. Must be able to work collaboratively with and as a member of a diverse multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication and organization skills. Requires ability to function capably in a fast-paced primary care environment. Ability to interact with diverse populations across the age spectrum. Proficient with clinical documentation standards. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Willingness to work to full scope of practice.
Diploma preparation or equivalent as assessed and determined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life support (CPR) certificate. Certification(s) as may be required within the scope of the position assignment.
