Licensed Practical Nurse- ER

Westlock is located in a rural setting, 70km north of Edmonton where Nurses work within a multidisciplinary team to provide family focused nursing care. This environment is suitable for candidates who have recent medical/surgical, emergency, and labor and delivery room experience, certification in a relevant specialty area, charge nurse experience, and leadership training. Westlock has an active OR with orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology and general surgery. Westlock is also an Acute Stroke Center for the north. Westlock Healthcare Center is a fast-paced environment and requires individuals with good communication and organizational skills.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

High level of critical thinking and prioritization required Strong assessment and communication skills Ability to work independently and in high stress situations Recent ER experience required Must be a team player, willing to train and help in all areas of the hospital as required ACLS, PALS, CTAS required

Preference to candidates with TNCC, NRP and previous rural experience
