St. Therese - St. Paul Healthcare Centre, located in St. Paul is seeking a confident and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our rural hospital team. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Minimum 6 months bedside nursing experience in an acute care setting within the last year. The position does require the successful applicant to have experience in wound care, IV initiation and medication administration, IV, oral intramuscular and subcutaneous. For Internationally Education LPN’s: Qualified candidates will be invited to interview and if successful, may complete a 4- week Elsevier Shadow Health e-SIM course with a minimum score of 80% as part of the final assessment process. For those candidates who successfully complete both the interview and e-SIM assessment will be required to attend a 3-week centralized orientation in Edmonton prior to starting the unit/program specific orientation. Labour and Delivery and post-partum experience or a willingness to train is a must. You may be eligible for the Rural Federal Student Loan Forgiveness Program if you meet other eligibility requirements.
Previous Connect Care (Rural Nurse). As this facility cares for a variety of clients experience or training in palliative care is beneficial. Experience as a charge nurse as is previous work as an RN in a rural setting. The following is also preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Fetal Heart Surveillance (FHS) training in LEAD II.
