ALTA Paramedic Health (APH) is seeking a highly accomplished, strategic leader to join its executive team as Lead, Executive Operations. Reporting to the Managing Director and Chief, this position provides enterprise-wide leadership in shaping and executing APH’s strategic and operational agenda, including budget and resource needs. As a trusted advisor and key member of the executive leadership team, you will ensure organizational effectiveness by fostering strong, collaborative relationships with provincial government partners and senior stakeholders. We are seeking a dynamic leader with a proven track record of advising senior executives in complex, politically sensitive environments, including government or public-sector organizations. You bring exceptional judgment, influence, writing skills, and the ability to navigate sensitive issues while advancing organizational priorities. ALTA Paramedic Health manages all aspects of the emergency health services system in the province. Every year, more than 4,200 APH professionals support over 750,000 emergency and transfer calls, both on the ground and in the air. From the emergency communications officers (ECOs) who answer the phone when you call for paramedic services, to the front-line paramedics who respond to help, APH works together to make sure Albertans get the right care, in the place, at the right time.

The Lead, Executive Operations, acts on behalf of the Managing Director and Chief where appropriate, exercising independent judgement and discretion in fulfilling delegated operational accountabilities, and is directly accountable for supporting the achievement of organizational goals and objectives. The role communicates directly, and on behalf of the Managing Director and Chief, with government officials, system partners, and other key stakeholders. The Lead, Executive Operations, provides strategic leadership and specialized expertise in issues management, portfolio and operational planning, project management, and stakeholder and government liaison. The role supports and enables the Managing Director and Chief in overseeing corporate, governance, and system level activities of the portfolio, while ensuring consistency, quality, and continuity across executive operations.

Bachelor’s degree in health care management, business administration or related field is required along with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in senior management or executive management level administrative experience, preferably in a health care environment. Experience in issues and concerns management, project management, planning, executive level report writing, and operational support.

The Lead, Executive Operations, intuitively understands the need to create win-win situations and is committed to presenting a professional, positive demeanour in all interactions. They possess a results orientation and client or customer service focus. In addition to their effective change management skills, the successful candidate has a broad knowledge of planning and operations. The position excels in verbal and written communication, and brings with them experience in project management, planning and operations. Along with their flexibility and ability to determine multiple priorities within wide scope of responsibilities, the candidate possesses a proven ability to work collaboratively with team members and with senior leaders and their teams. The Lead has an impeccable attention to detail and discretion in dealing with highly confidential information, and an ability to influence, negotiate, and mediate resolutions to complex situations. In addition to their proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences and to foster partnerships with key stakeholders to achieve organizational goals, the position possesses a proven record of engaging in ethical conduct. Equivalencies of education, experience and skills may be considered.

A master’s degree and public sector or government experience is preferred. Public sector or government experience at a strategic level is a strong asset.
