Description
This position is based in Camrose and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team at the Camrose Healthy Living Centre. The Kinesiologist is an integral part of the cardiac rehabilitation program at the site. The Kinesiologist performs additional professional duties relating to exercise and healthy lifestyle assessments, exercise programming, 1:1 intervention and education for adults with one or more chronic conditions. This position may qualify for a recruitment incentive of up to $13,000 over 12 months. For full details, visit rcif-hsaa.ca.
As a Kinesiologist, you may be working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, utilizing evidence-based and client-centred practice. You may be performing assessment of exercise tolerance for the purpose of developing, implementing, evaluating and maintaining appropriate exercise prescriptions/programs as well as referring patients (clients, residents) appropriately to other healthcare programs and/or services. You will take a health promotion perspective, providing self-management support and guiding the patient towards achieving improvements in their health and physical functioning by conducting pre-participation evaluations, screening of health status, and outcome measurement tests. You may be developing, supervising, monitoring and modifying the exercise programs, supervising clients both individually and in a group-focused program, and providing education to clients and their families.
Completion of bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, or equivalent exercise science degree. Current Clinical Exercise Physiologist to (CSEP) or the American College of Sports Medicine's Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP).
Excellent with individuals with disabilities and elderly. Knowledgeable regarding biomechanics, exercise prescription and progression, and ergonomic evaluation of individuals with physical impairments. Ability to function effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Effective communication and interpersonal skills fundamental. Basic computer skills.
Experience in outpatient, inpatient & community settings. Experience with cardiac rehabilitation.
