Description

The Seniors Health, North Zone team is a dynamic group of interdisciplinary professionals geographically dispersed across northern Alberta, and we’re looking for an innovative professional to join us as the Clinical Nurse Educator - Palliative Care. In this role, you will be part of the Palliative Care Team, supporting and sustaining effective care through education resource development and delivery for direct care clinicians, Palliative Care Team members and other key stakeholders. The education developed and delivered by the Clinical Nurse Educator - Palliative Care aligns with current best practice evidence and applicable standards and guidelines, such as the Continuing Care Health Service standards, legislation, quality improvement, strategic plans, and organizational/contracted provider needs. As the Clinical Nurse Educator - Palliative Care, you will be responsible for planning, co-developing, facilitating, coordinating and supporting the implementation of education related to common issues and specific clinical situations in complex palliative care the North Zone. You may support other Seniors Health education as needed, and support with frontline PCRN work as required.
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Minimum of five (5) years’ nursing experience, including a minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with palliative care. Minimum of one (1) year of experience within the last five (5) years in an educator role- providing education, content development, and delivery. Minimum of one (1) year previous experience in Seniors Health Home & Community Care Program and/or a Hospice setting. Expertise in Palliative Care. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Meditech, Connect Care, and Netcare trained. Competent with MS Office Suite, and virtual platforms such as TEAMs/ ZOOM. Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Demonstrated proficiency with change management protocols and processes.
Experience in at least two (2) care sectors. CNA Certification in Palliative Care. Case Management Education. Connect Care Trained. Experience in program planning, education of adults, interdisciplinary practice, and research activities. Completion of bachelor’s degree in nursing.
