Description
You are an experienced rural educator, working in a regionalized department and provide support for both the ‘rural Central Corridor Simulation based education’ and the ‘Grow Your Own BScN’ programs. You will also develop, coordinate, facilitate and deliver courses for rural Acute Care staff both virtually and in person as needed within Central Corridor, AHS. You partner with clinical educators and clinical experts from other portfolios to develop and facilitate best practice education and simulation content that spans across lifespan needs. Familiarity with Connect Care is a must; prior experience with data collection and use is preferred. This position location is negotiable within rural Central Corridor for the successful applicant.
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Minimum 5 years broad based rural nursing experience. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing. Minimum of 3 years teaching experience preferably with an adult focus in a health care setting. Strong computer knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. Strong ability to deliver virtual education through TEAMS and Zoom. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a virtual team. Ability to travel within Central Corridor.
Additional instructors’ certification in ACLS, TNCC, PALS, CTAS and/or NRP. Well-developed nursing skills in Emergency and Obstetrics. Although some virtual work is involved, possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle in good repair for work-related travel is required as on-site support within Central Corridor is an expectation. Previous training as a Connect Care Superuser, or current use of Connect Care documentation.
