Description
Located at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women, this position works within a team of Women's Health educators supporting Obstetrics and Gynecology and specifically supports Labor and Delivery, Obstetrics Operating Room, PACU and Antepartum. Working in collaboration with Unit managers, and Patient Care Managers (PCMs), the instructor -Clinic Nurse Educator (CNE) provides leadership in planning, co-ordination, implementation and evaluation of evidence informed educational activities for nursing staff. This includes orientation, compulsory education, clinical development and continuing education. Other duties include the clinical competence of staff through changes in policy, procedures, protocols, technology, and supporting quality improvement initiatives. The CNE implements practice changes to meet legislative organizational and accreditation requirements and promotes best practices through evidence -based resources and expert consultation. The CNE is expected to provide support within the program and network with colleagues and teams across the site, zone and province as the needs presents.
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Fetal health surveillance, Neonatal resuscitation program certification, and OBIX training. Baccalaureate degree in nursing is required. Minimum of 5 years recent Obstetrics and Obstetrics Operating room nursing experience is required. Must be a highly motivated and self-directed individual. Must have demonstrated leadership skills as well as excellence in interpersonal communication. Teaching and learning experience required along with proficiency with technology.
Adult education experience preferred. Graduate degree and/or certificate in adult learning, leadership and/or perioperative nursing would be an asset. Experience with Connect Care preferred.
