An exciting opportunity exists to join a dynamic leadership team and grow your skills working within a collaborative team environment at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the RDRH is a 17 bed unit focused on providing excellent clinical and family centered care supporting the critical care needs of our patients. As a Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) in the NICU you will be responsible for delivery of educational programs in collaboration with management and other nursing leaders. The CNE provides leadership in planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of educational activities for healthcare staff including orientation, compulsory educational programs, clinical development and continuing education. The education program is based on identified needs and requirements which may include legislation, regulatory standards, continued competencies, quality improvement initiatives, strategic plans/ objectives, and organizational priorities. The CNE participates in the development and ongoing maintenance of provincial, zone and site educational programs as well as Practice Support Documents. The CNE’s role is to promote excellence in clinical practice. The CNE will have to understand best practice and be able to integrate the same into practice support documentation development and clinical care. The ability to build relationships within multi-disciplinary teams and with colleagues as well as with staff, operational leaders and families, is essential. Red Deer is a city in Central Alberta, Canada. It is located near the midpoint of the Calgary/Edmonton Corridor and is surrounded by Red Deer County. It is Alberta's third-most-populous city after Calgary and Edmonton. The city is located in aspen parkland, a region of rolling hills that is home to oil, grain, and cattle production.

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Neonatal Resuscitation Program. Minimum 2 years nursing experience within the last 5 years in a level II or level III NICU.

Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience will be considered. CNE or Nurse Clinician experience in last 2 years. NRP Instructor. Experience with in-service/program development, delivery & measurement of learning outcomes. Experience leading quality improvement & change management. Quality Improvement certification (AIW Yellow/Green Belt, or equivalent). Change management certification (PROSCI or equivalent). Leadership development courses last 2 years. Knowledge of adult learning principles.
