Are you looking for an opportunity to use your health sector planning & project management experience to improve the health of people living in Alberta? Primary Care Alberta (PCA) is looking for a Health Promotion Facilitator II (HPFII) to join the Performance and Improvement (P&I) Department within Public Health, CDC & Screening (PHCDCS). The department supports integrated planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting across population and public health program areas across PCA. Reporting to the Team Lead - Program & Operational Planning Team, the HPFII will facilitate key planning initiatives in relation to population and public health priorities. Key activities may include managing projects using appropriate methods & tools, facilitating committees and working groups, building consensus among project teams and key partners, and synthesizing & communicating evidence to inform action and decisions. In this role, you will collaborate with teams across population and public health, as well as colleagues in the P&I department. Duties will include: facilitating the development of short and long-term plans for provincial & operational public health programs; supporting alignment of program and business plans; and synthesizing evidence & information from multiple sources into deliverables that meet the needs of various audiences. Project management of key projects in alignment with organizational priorities. This position is eligible for hybrid/remote work arrangements within Alberta and a modified work week schedule. This position will be part of Primary Care Alberta effective November 18, 2024. As a Health Promotion Facilitator II, you will lead and coordinate health promotion, disease and injury prevention initiatives and programs using a population health promotion approach. You will identify behavioural, social, political, economic, environmental and organizational factors that promote or compromise health and recommend evidence-informed strategies to address identified priorities. You will conduct situational analyses, literature reviews, environmental scans and focus groups to make recommendations as part of an integrated program planning and evaluation process. You will manage projects using standardized tools and techniques that are conducive or aligned with health promotion, disease and injury prevention practices. You will collaborate with key internal and external key stakeholders in project or program planning, development, implementation, evaluation and improvement. You will facilitate community and staff engagement and build community and staff capacity around population health promotion priorities. You will evaluate the effectiveness of existing health promotion and disease prevention strategies and make recommendations.
Master's degree in Health Promotion, Public or Population Health, Health Education or a related field.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in population and public health, health promotion or a related field. Knowledge of foundational concepts related to strategic and program planning. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning within an organization or portfolio of significant size and complexity, Demonstrated experience applying best-practice planning methods, tools and techniques to develop program and strategic plans. Knowledge of and experience applying the population health promotion model, health promotion strategies, determinants of health, and health equity. Demonstrated experience in planning and managing large, complex projects in collaboration with others Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders. Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects/deliverables simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to synthesize information from multiple sources into high quality deliverables for a variety of audiences (technical reports, strategic plans, presentations). Demonstrated ability to mobilize diverse groups and build consensus. Skilled in group facilitation, leading effective meetings, and tailoring content to effectively communicate with different audiences. Experience applying various research methods (literature review, critical appraisal). Demonstrated professional experience with critical thinking skills, including conceptual, strategizing, and problem-solving.
Demonstrated experience working with leadership in a health setting. Experience using virtual and collaborative technology with diverse audiences. Project management certification or education. Change management certification and/or experience. Professional record of being resourceful, creative, adaptive and flexible. Subject matter expertise in key focus considered an asset (e.g. Communicable Disease Control including STBBI, Population-Based Screening, operational Public Health Services)
