Reporting to the Lead, Reporting Services, in the Data and Analytics (DnA) portfolio, the Health Information Analyst provides support to analytics and reporting requests and works in a fast-paced team environment where projects may be independent or collaborative. The position is located in Calgary, but negotiable within the province. The role has primary responsibility to process data from a variety of sources and deliver reports for clients by consulting on needs while understanding and representing data limitations and appropriate use. Additional dashboard development projects also form part of the project work in this position. Primary data in use for reporting includes Connect Care, inpatient, ambulatory and other datasets in the data repository. A firm knowledge of health data based on a solid Health Information Management background is required for this position. Comfort with use of technical tools (such as the SQL languages in Snowflake and Oracle environments, Tableau and Folio) and working in a technical environment is required. This role involves data extraction from multiple databases across the organization and will at times involve automation and publishing to dashboards. The ability to investigate data issues and pursue clarification will be a necessary skill. Documentation and writing at all stages are needed for effective reports, record keeping, and communication. The candidate should therefore be detail oriented and organized. Planning and interpretation as well as consultation and interpersonal skills are vital.

As a Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) II, you will provide leadership in the development, implementation and reporting for health information services. You will be responsible for the coordination of daily operations as well as training new staff in your assigned area. You will deliver operational guidance and support to ensure that clinical information is timely, accurate and valid.

Completion of diploma from an accredited Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).

Experience with SQL languages and Folio.

Experience with CMG groupers, ICD-10-CA and CCI coding. Training in Connect Care. Knowledge with business intelligence software, such as Tableau. Knowledge of health care systems and data privacy.
