Reporting to the Supervisor, Provincial Data Quality and Clinical Documentation Integrity, the Submission & Technical Specialist (STS) is a key role in Health Information Management (HIM) that requires a unique and specialized skill set to provide technical leadership and Data Collection subject matter expertise. This position is responsible for Data Submissions to Morbidity and Ambulatory Care Abstract Reporting (MACAR), both Discharge Abstract Data Base (DAD) and National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS) including deletion, addition, and correction files. The position is also responsible for monitoring month-end processes for data quality edits and ensuring the Provincial Coding and Abstracting System (PCAS) and MACAR errors and edits are addressed by creating, maintaining, and running reports for reconciliation and remediation. The position also has responsibility for testing of all new releases impacting PCAS. The incumbent collaborates with Provincial Data Collection Advisors, Zone Data Collection Managers and Health Information Management Professionals (Clinical Coding Specialists and Clinical Coding Leads) for continuous improvements to clinical documentation and clinical data workflow efficiencies within Connect Care and PCAS ensuring national and provincial data collection principles are applied. Position is eligible to work anywhere in the province. Applicants will be required to write and pass a provincial coding proficiency test and perform a pre-hire skills assessment with a minimum score of 70% prior to advancing to the interview.

As a Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) II, you will provide leadership in the development, implementation and reporting for health information services. You will be responsible for the coordination of daily operations as well as training new staff in your assigned area. You will deliver operational guidance and support to ensure that clinical information is timely, accurate and valid.

Completion of diploma from an accredited Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).

Minimum of 3 - 5 years of coding experience in all visit types (DAD & NACRS) and all specialties. Extensive knowledge of Case Mix Groups, Resource Intensity Weights, and Comprehensive Ambulatory Classification System methodologies. Must have excellent organizational, time management, analytical and technical skills to meet demands of workload and deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). eHealth competence (includes privacy and security, confidentiality, patient safety, and communication and collaboration). A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.

Leadership experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Connect Care clinical information system, Provincial Coding & Abstracting System and Encoder software experience preferred.
