Step into the role of EEG Technologist I, where your work will directly impact the diagnosis and care of patients of all ages, from infants to adults, through standard neurophysiology testing. As part of the Edmonton Zone EEG Program, you will perform EEG studies and contribute to specialized epilepsy monitoring, helping guide clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes. You will work closely with neurologists, critical care teams, and other health professionals, gaining hands-on experience in both acute care and outpatient settings. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of high-acuity cases, such as those in the ICU and emergency settings, where your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes. You'll play a vital role in continuous video-EEG monitoring, capturing and analyzing seizure activity to support accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. Edmonton is home to one of only two Epilepsy Monitoring Units in Alberta. Located at the UAH, this specialized unit provides advanced care for patients with complex seizure disorders. You will work with a high degree of clinical autonomy while still being fully supported by a collaborative, multidisciplinary team grounded in the principles of Family-Centered Care. As an Electroneurophysiology (EEG) Technologist, you will perform appropriate tests on all age groups, utilizing a variety of electrode application methods and explain testing procedures to clients/patients and family. You will observe physical changes in the patient during testing, prepare results and/or interprets findings for/with physician. You will prepare, update and maintain patient records. You will ensure proper operation of equipment by performing maintenance, calibration, cleaning and detect any equipment malfunction, make minor repairs or report the need for major repairs to the appropriate person. You will inform the physician of urgent examination results and resolve unusual or complex cases or refers concerns to the appropriate individual(s).
Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).
Registered or eligible for registration with the Canadian Board of Registration of Electroencephalograph Technologist (CBRET). Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills when working with patients, families, and other staff, and be able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Flexibility and the ability to respond effectively to changing or unpredictable situations is essential. The role requires the physical ability to transfer patients and transport equipment. A clear understanding of, and commitment to, a Family-Centered Care service delivery model is also required.
Previous experience in clinical neurophysiology in both pediatric and adult settings.
