The Grande Prairie Cancer Centre Radiation Therapy Department is looking for a highly motivated Dosimetrist II to join our patient-focused and collaborative radiation therapy program. The Dosimetrist II will join an amazing team committed to excellence in service delivery and improved patient outcomes for cancer patients. We currently utilize two Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators, and our primary focus is on the four main tumor groups. Treatment techniques include 3D-Conformal, FiF, electron beam, and inverse planning (static IMRT and VMAT). We are also soon to begin development of an SBRT program that will include Lung and Prostate. A hybrid work from home model is available to offer flexibility and start date is negotiable. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Dosimetrist IIA, you will provide subject matter expertise of the overall characteristics and clinical relevance of Radiation Oncology treatment, machines/equipment and procedures commonly used in Radiation Therapy and Brachytherapy. Your experience and technical knowledge will be instrumental in developing the delivery plan for radiation treatments, selecting radiation energy and other treatment parameters for the approval of the Radiation Oncologist. You will generate radiation dose calculation and distribution in collaboration with the medical physicist and Radiation Oncologist. You will also be responsible for training and mentoring new staff, rotational staff, residents, and Radiation Therapy students.

Bachelor's degree of Science in Radiation Therapy or completion of Medical Radiation Therapy diploma and Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certification, or equivalent. Six (6) months of experience in a radiation therapy department.

Completion of the Canadian Dosimetry Certificate (CDC) or Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) designation is required. Candidates with equivalent experience and designation in progress may be considered. Minimum one year in treatment planning/Dosimetry with current working expertise in 3D conformal and VMAT planning. Must possess and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as work effectively as part of a team. As this is a fast-paced environment, the applicant must be able to excel under pressure, prioritize organization and maintain a positive working relationship with staff and patients alike. Must be physically able to perform all duties of the job required along with sitting, standing, bending, walking and lifting as needed.

Experience with complex (SBRT) VMAT. Experience with Eclipse TPS, EZFluence and Limbus are considered an asset.
