Description
Area Director works in close partnership with the Community Medical Director (CMD)as part of the operational leadership team in several northwest corridor AHS facilities. The Area Director provides an operations perspective, and the CMD ensures a clinical focus as they jointly make major decisions and recommendations. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
Provide leadership to rural hospitals in NW corridor. Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic and operational plans and policies which support the service delivery models for Slave Lake, High Prairie, McLennan and Wabsaca. Build and sustain strong commitment to the corridor service delivery model through clear, consistent, and collaborative communication strategies. Enable and support the work of others by providing the tools, guidance, and resources needed to advance corridor goals and meet operational priorities. Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic and operational plans, policies, and processes that support and strengthen the corridor’s service delivery model.
Undergraduate degree in a healthcare profession, healthcare management or business administration. 5 years in a management capacity in a healthcare environment. Progressive leadership experience in health services delivery. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Current professional registration and valid driver’s license.

Leadership skills including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching with an ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. An ability to manage resources in a complex environment. An ability to build and foster collaboration with stakeholders, care givers, senior management and external agencies.
