Make a meaningful impact in the vibrant northern Alberta community of Athabasca as a Dietitian I, where you’ll enjoy a diverse and rewarding practice across acute care, long‑term care, outpatient services, and home care. In this role, you’ll support clients in private homes, lodges, and supportive living facilities, while also contributing to the Alberta Healthy Living Program through group education that empowers individuals to manage chronic disease. Working closely with food services staff, nurses, allied health professionals, and physicians, you’ll provide coordinated, evidence‑based nutrition care that truly makes a difference. All of this unfolds in a welcoming rural community set along the stunning Athabasca River, surrounded by natural beauty that adds a sense of calm and connection to your work and life.
As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.
Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).
The successful candidate will demonstrate a Patient First philosophy; have excellent time management and interpersonal skills and will be able to demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues and clients as a member of a team.
Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge, skills, and judgment required for independent practice. Evidence of effective client interviewing, counseling skills in individual and group settings.
