Are you a sonographer in the Medicine Hat area looking to supplement your income while maintaining scheduling flexibility? We currently have general sonography shifts available for pickup in the Ultrasound Department at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, including both weekday and weekend opportunities. We also have general call shifts available for pick up seven days a week. In addition, echocardiography shifts are available Monday through Friday, performing TTEs and TEEs. These opportunities are ideal for sonographers seeking flexible, supplemental work while supporting patient care in a collaborative environment.

As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Completion of a diploma from an accredited ultrasound program, or certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited general imaging program, is required. The successful candidate must demonstrate high-quality technical skills and a strong knowledge base. Excellent time management, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. The candidate must be able to maintain a positive, cooperative, and flexible attitude, and consistently demonstrate tact, courtesy, and empathy when interacting with patients and families. The successful applicant must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team across a wide range of clinical and educational settings. Proficiency in verbal and written communication is required, along with a demonstrated ability to take initiative and make sound decisions. The candidate must also be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.

Certification in both cardiac and general ultrasound is preferred (CRGS and CRCS or equivalent). A working knowledge of the computer applications Connect Care and PEI is preferred, but not required. Familiarity with ISCV considered an asset.
